With 28 days until the Texas Legislative Session ends, we wanted to send out a quick update.
The state budget is officially in a conference committee – where members of the Texas House and Senate are working out the fiscal differences. Below are links to budget information of interest:
- Lt. Governor David Dewhurst named the Senate budget conferees
- Speaker Joe Straus named the House budget conferees
- Summary of differences between the House and Senate budget proposals
Of note is that the session now comes down to a series of procedural deadlines that impact the legislature’s progress. The next legislative deadline is May 6, which is the last day for House committees to report House Bills and House Joint Resolutions – meaning any House bill that has not been passed out of a House committee by next Monday is officially dead.
