(Socorro, TX) – Drawing attention to the symptoms of dementia and the need to benchmark annual test results over time, Senior Care Centers, LLC Las Ventanas de Socorro skilled nursing home will offer Alzheimer’s screenings sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America to facility residents and the community. Las Ventanas staff will also be trained on-site to perform Alzheimer annual screenings and to immediately assess results.
“Las Ventanas is continuing to develop an expertise in caring for Alzheimer’s patients, as well as identifying disease symptoms early on to ensure the best care possible,” said Bob DuPriest, facility administrator of Las Ventanas. “Opening up the Alzheimer’s screening test to the community provides both educational and practical information regarding the disease and informs every one of the local resources available to patients and family members impacted by dementia.”
Facility nurses will conduct the assessments which take roughly 10-15 minutes. Representatives from the West Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, Amerigroup, Molina, Security Service FCU, and Envision Hospice will also be on site to provide educational materials about the latest healthcare strategies to treat Alzheimer’s patients and resources to support family members and caregivers. In addition, State Senator Justin Rodriguez, D-San Antonio, and Representative Mary Gonzáles, Clint–D, will discuss the importance of a proactive community staying educated and informed about health care.
