S2T Fall Ball Program
In October and November residents at all SCC homes participated in an eight week “fall ball” program aimed at improving upper and lower body flexibility, as well as overall strength through isometric muscle movement using everyday playground balls. For example, squeezing the balls in with fingers, palms, and hands helps strengthen and maintain finger dexterity, allowing residents to see how the movements emulate daily functions such as buttoning a shirt or holding silverware.
“I look forward to wellness program, we meet each morning do some strengthening of head/neck/arms and legs with weights, bands, and flexing our body. At the end of the exercise we pass and kick the balls. It gets us laughing at each other and having fun.”
