Benjamin M. Hanson, Chief Administrative Officer
Benjamin M. Hanson serves as the Chief Administrative and Strategy Officer of Senior Care Centers, LLC (and its affiliates) (SCC), following the completion of its acquisition of Harden Healthcare, including its 37 skilled, assisted and independent living facilities, as well as its MBS Pharmacy division, on April 1, 2015. Ben is primarily responsible for the strategic direction of SCC, including serving as lead for legal, government relations and public affairs, risk management, mergers, acquisitions and other strategic partnership areas of SCC.
Until its acquisition by SCC, Ben served and President and CEO of Harden Healthcare, a leading senior healthcare services provider, and prior to Gentiva Health Services’ acquisition of Harden Healthcare’s home health, hospice and community care divisions in October 2013, served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Harden Healthcare. Ben previously served on the Board of Directors of Harden Healthcare from 2005-2008, helping to guide Harden Healthcare through its rapid growth into an integrated post-acute provider of senior health services, until entering into an operational role in 2008. At its peak, Harden Healthcare’s suite of post-acute services included home health, hospice care, private duty, assisted living, skilled nursing and rehabilitation and pharmacy operations, and included 33,000 associates serving approximately 35,000 patients a day in 15 states.
Prior to joining Harden Healthcare, Ben previously served as the General Counsel of DMX Holdings, Inc., a business media services company, and Andrew Harper, Inc., a provider of unique, high-end travel advice and other services, and served as a member of Texas Governor Rick Perry’s staff, and as Chief of Staff and General Counsel for Texas Secretaries of State J. Roger Williams and Geoffrey S. Connor. Ben began his legal career in the Dallas office of Jenkens & Gilchrist, a Professional Corporation, as an associate in the Corporate & Securities Group.
Ben graduated in 1996 after three years at the University of Texas at Austin with a double major in Plan II Honors and Government. Following his undergraduate degree, Ben obtained his law degree from the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University in 1999. Ben is a 1993 graduate of St. Mark’s School of Texas in Dallas.
Ben currently serves as the Presiding Officer of the Texas State Cemetery Committee, as an appointee of Governor Greg Abbott. Ben also serves as the Chairman-Elect of the Board of Directors of Meals on Wheels and More in Austin, as Past President of Westwood Country Club and on the Board of Directors of same, and Co-Chairman of the Capital Campaign and a member of the Stewardship Committee of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. Ben and his wife, Kristen, and their four children have called Austin, Texas their home since 2002.
